IF I SHOWED YOU by Jolita Kelias

If I showed you what lies inside my heart, would you believe it, would you take it as a real thing? Would you?

If I showed you the love that resides in me, would you still allow me to give it freely and be myself or would you want it all for yourself and yourself alone?

If I showed you what I truly thought about you, would you accept it and welcome it?

If I showed you how deep I can go when thinking about you, would you go to those depths together with me?

If I showed you what treasures lie inside my heart, would you leave them there or take them with you?

If I took the mask off my face and showed you the real me, would you still love the face you see? Would you still want to have me in your life? Would you?

If I showed you my scars, would you help them heal or would you make your mark and leave?

If I showed you my feelings, would you treat them kindly? Would you respect their true nature?

If I lied naked in front of you, would you touch me gently? Would you appreciate my im-perfections?

If I showed you the flames of passion breathing inside of me, would you breathe them together with me?

If I showed you the truth that stands facing you, would you open your eyes to see?..

I wish I could show you my true nature and yet feel safe in your arms...

What would happen then?

I’ll tell you what... Two worlds would become One and Love would blossom.

LIFE CAN BE SIMPLE

My Vivid Dream (one of many)

My dear Friend rang me this Sunday early morning, she wanted to talk. She could not let me sleep just a bit longer... :-) She opened up to me about the development of her career. She seemed very calm, excited and surprised at the same time. She said to me at one point:

“I struggled so much for so long and suddenly everything became so SIMPLE, Jolita.”

“Yes, of course,” I answered.

“What do you mean by that?” She seemed surprised.

“Everything became simple because you dared to let go. You detached yourself from the end result and the need for things to work out your way.”

And then I gave her an example of a beautiful vivid dream I had a couple of years ago. I shall share it with you as well.

I dreamt I was in Heaven standing high on the top of the mountain covered in white clouds. I felt happy and at peace. I looked up and noticed two beautiful white birds that I have never seen before flying high in the sky. Suddenly one went down and began hovering above me. I started dancing and jumping in excitement. Then, I stretched my hands up and invited the bird to land in my hands. My intentions were pure. I did not intend to keep the bird, I did not intend to own the bird, I did not intend to cage the bird, all I wanted was to show what a beautiful nest/home I made for it.

The bird continued hovering above me. Once more I welcomed it to land in my hands. The next moment the bird surrendered itself and softly landed in my hands. I felt so much love for it I cannot put this feeling into words. I felt an incredible gratitude to it for showing me trust. And so I tenderly carried it towards its nest, placed it inside and said:

“This is your home. This gate will never be closed; you may come and leave any time you wish.”

The bird adjusted itself comfortably in the nest.

I looked at it and smiled. A few moments passed but the bird showed no interest in leaving. I was very surprised.

“Now you may fly away,” I said.

The bird did not move.

“Why don’t you leave?” I asked. “You may fly away. I just wanted to show you your new home. You may come and leave any time you want.”

The bird did not move.

I enquired again: “Why don’t you fly away?”

And then the answer came to me: “For as long as you keep the gate open, I shall stay.”

***
This vivid dream was a great reminder to me about how the law of nature works. You want to have something, let go of it first regardless of the end result. It does not necessary mean you will get what you wish for, but at least it will be easier once that moment comes if it comes.

That’s the law of nature - when you let go of something, when you let go of need and expectations, Life becomes Simple, things start to work out, but the most important you become calmer, more relaxed and focussed.

So whenever I feel like holding onto something, I immediately go back to that dream of mine of Heaven and the Bird. That helps me to change my course... I Let Go.

The ART of CREATING...

For an Artist the most important thing is to detach themselves from the outside world and other peoples’ opinions, so that the artist could create based on the feelings that freely flow through within him/her.

That’s not an easy thing to do though, especially when within time we get to know more and more people (some become more special and some less), but the most amazing wonder is when every time you create, you allow yourself to go into that space of divine wisdom, divine joy, divine sparkle that resides within you and take a little bit of it spreading it all around and giving yourself a permission to be vulnerable. To open your heart through creation is one of the greatest gifts the artist could give to the receiver.

I have seen how the fear of judgement and criticism stopped many good artists from creating or publishing their works. So one day I promised to myself to overcome that fear that arises within me every time I get inspired to open my heart and be vulnerable. That's then I also understood that my strength resided in my vulnerability. And so I do it over and over again – I overcome this fear on the spot and then I create. I must say, whenever I shut down my mind from the outer world and go with the flow, results are astounding.

Of course, criticism will come and everyone will take your ideas, your feelings, your insights differently, however what is the most important is how You take it, how You view it and what it means to You. The rest is not important.

I appreciate this quote by Kenneth Tynan: “A critic is a man who knows the way but can’t drive the car”.

The critic’s favourite job is what they do best – criticise (that could be positive and negative). Some of them make it their profession and are paid for doing it. They put their heart into their work, considering it to be their job to be ‘true’ to other people. But who is really True – the one who creates or the one who criticises? I say it’s the creator, whose art speaks for itself, regardless of other’s judgements. It is the easiest thing in the world to criticise and bend the truth but the creator always tells the truth.

However, I am not here to criticise my critics. I sincerely want to thank them for all their hard work criticising me and my work, because it makes me more determined to succeed. So, you see, we need critics and we have good reason to be thankful to them. Critics love using the word No, but I do not accept that; it literally sets me on fire. I am a great believer that nothing is impossible and I don’t take no for an answer. I will not give up on anything, until I have tried every possible way to achieve my dream. I know that where there’s a will - there’s a way.

Eleanor Roosevelt put it straight, “Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway. You’ll be damned if you do and damned if you don’t”.

I am a writer/ independent journalist, and it took me quite some time to overcome my fear and doubt of my worthiness, but once I have done it, I did it once and for all. Now I have no fear, no doubt and no hesitation.

No matter who you are or where you come from, I love you and thank you for giving me your time and consideration.

THE ART OF CREATING IS - TO LET GO...

Now... Let’s create ;-)
